The question of renting vs. purchasing your child’s instrument is one that has been the dilemma of many parents every new school year. Before a parent makes their decision, they should sit down with a sharp pencil and add up the cost of the entire year of renting and insuring the instrument. They also assume responsibility for any damages. On the other side they should consider the purchase price of a good budget priced Chinese unit. (Today, China is putting out better instruments as well as cheap junk.) If they find the numbers close and have access to economical instruments, it is a smart move to buy rather than rent. Their liability is lower and they have it for the future as well as other members of the family. Old instruments in good condition can be sold to recover some of the original expense.
Buying can be a lot cheaper than renting!!!
