Buzz on any Electric Guitar

Sunday, June 22nd, 2014

The most basic and simplest check for buzz or non-clean notes is to check the ground of the cable.  If not properly connected on both ends, you will get noise on your amp. Using a simple VOM (volt ohm meter), check resistance tip to tip and ground to ground. It should be minimal (1-5 ohms). Also check cable to make sure that each tip is totally separated from the ground (unlimited resistance). For more tests, consult a guitar luthier.
